LEAD DATA WAREHOUSE ENGINEER

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Lead Data Warehouse Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. The client’s guest data platform is built to help hotels know, understand, and earn valuable guests never like before. With the guest feedback, hoteliers are empowered to make smarter decisions, resulting in increased direct revenue and guest engagement. They count tens of thousands of the world's leading hotels as customers. They have won numerous awards for its Software-as-a-Service solutions, including 2019’s Top Rated Email Marketing and CRM Product by Hotel Tech Report. The client is bringing consumer-grade design thinking into enterprise software for the hospitality industry. More than 30,000 hotels globally trust the client to help them build deeper relationships with their guests. Their software uses data from the web and the hotel’s systems to build rich guest profiles and create experiences and loyalty. Cloud system used on the project: AWS and GCP (Data Warehouse Team sources data from AWS and pumps it into BigQuery). Data pipelines are Airflow, Stitch, Kafka Connect, home-grown apps, and Kinesis. These technologies aren't critical, though, and DBT and BigQuery experience are higher priorities.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience with data modeling and data warehouse best practices.
  • Experience as a Team Lead.
  • Experience with DBT.
  • Experience with ETL.
  • Proficiency in  Python.
  • Expertise in BigQuery.
  • Expertise in AWS data infrastructure (must). Experience with GCP or willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in English (the person does not need to be a native English speaker, though).
  • Active participation (who will propose good ideas and challenge the team’s thinking).
  • Self-sufficiency (we will provide context, requirements, and acceptance criteria, but the candidate must deliver with minimal assistance).
  • Previous management experience. It is a "player/coach" role, so we expect the manager to be hands-on, but he or she must also be an experienced people manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Team Lead for the Data Team.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, and define the best approaches to implement the needed solutions.
  • Build data sourcing pipelines from AWS sources.
  • Create data infrastructure based on BigQuery on GCP.
  • Develop ETL modeling.
