SENIOR DELPHI ENGINEER

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Delphi Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. Our client is the leading provider of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance and risk management software, data, and consulting services focusing on Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S), Operational Risk Management, and Product Stewardship. The Chicago-based company serves more than 3,000 customers and over 1million individual users across 70+ countries. They are a portfolio company of Blackstone, a U.S.-based alternative asset investment company that focuses on private equity, technology and innovation, and more. The client’s team is in Germany. It is for a project in the product sustainability engineering team. They want to ramp up the team in early 2022. They expect an intense ramp-up period that requires excellent communication skills, i.e., excellent English (both written and spoken) or German language skills. Windows application geared towards LCA experts who need to create and analyze LCA models. The project is a family of products around life cycle assessment. At this point, they are looking for help with the customer’s project and new LCA automation projects. Code is written mainly in Delphi. The UI is based on VCL, and the persistence layer uses SQLite under the hood. On the Delphi side: they are currently on 10.3.2 (Rio) and want to upgrade to 11 (Alexandria) soon, but they don’t have a schedule for this yet. The LCA Automation solution the client is currently building will mix Delphi and C# components. They plan to write most of the new features in C# (based on .NET Core). Some existing Delphi code will have to be refactored and tuned. At this point in the planning process, they expect that the current team will cover this.

Requirements:

  • Experience in developing desktop software applications.
  • Experience with Delphi, or willingness to learn Delphi.
  • Experience with C# or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Fluency in either German or English.

Will be a plus:

  • Domain expertise in life-cycle assessment or a strong passion for the field.
  • Experience in building web/cloud applications.
  • Experience with Azure.
  • Experience with Java.
  • Experience with linear algebra problems and tools.
  • Knowledge of TDD.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform full-stack development for the project product family across all layers from desktop clients, backend services, and data layer to API development and user interface.
  • Build functionality, services, and applications with Delphi and C#.
  • Improve software quality by addressing issues identified by QA or customers.
  • Modularize applications, help to define and implement interfaces in our internal APIs.
  • Refactor modules to address the most relevant weak spots.
  • Analyze requirements, suggest concepts, and assess development efforts.
  • Work in a scrum team.
  • Conduct white box testing and development of unit tests.
  • Create technical system documentation (source code documentation, external documentation, bug-tracking system, etc.).
  • Provide 3rd-level support.
