SENIOR PYTHON ENGINEER

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Python Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. Our client is a network of successful EdTech companies with more than 220 employees, a highly trafficked site to help prospective students find and learn about degree programs. They have built more than 50 online degree programs with top-tier colleges and universities such as the University of Michigan, Howard University, American University, University of Tennessee, the University of Washington, and Tufts University. The client creates innovative online and hybrid programs while improving traditional classroom models. They can work with universities on every aspect of building a certificate or degree program that they choose - marketing, student recruitment, enrollment, curriculum design, student engagement, support services, graduate placement, and alumni engagement - and provide a high level of fit and finish. The Core Engineering Team manages the integration and processing of the hundreds of educational data sources that drive the client’s products. This role works closely with solutions architects and other software engineers to onboard new university partners into the client’s data ecosystem, evaluate and develop integrations with new data systems, and continually expand and improve the internal data tools and libraries.

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience with Python. 
  • Experience with Python data analysis libraries (pandas, NumPy).
  • Expertise in Linux.
  • Fundamental relational database skills and experience in writing SQL.
  • Excellent critical thinking and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.

Will be a plus:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience with 3rd party ETL tools such as Talend, Stitch, or Fivetran.
  • Experience with Golang.
  • Familiarity with Apache Airflow or similar scheduling tools.
  • Understanding of AWS technologies including ECS, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, API Gateway, and DocumentDB.
  • Experience in agile software development methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience in managing infrastructure as code using AWS CDK or similar tools.
  • Experience in automated testing and data quality assurance.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside a team of software engineers with expertise in batch data processing, ETL, data warehousing, and data quality management. 
  • Assist with exploratory analysis of new data sources and develop proofs of concept for new data pipelines. 
  • Onboard new university partners, adapting complex enrollment and learning systems into usable data feeds.
  • Report directly to the Senior Director of Engineering.
