Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Back End Engineer with Node for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. Our client is a technology leader in transportation management, leveraging advanced technology to optimize fleet operations and improve overall efficiency and safety in mission-critical software to support North America’s trucking and transportation industry.
They offer a cloud-based platform that enhances fleet management, route planning, and operational efficiency. The platform utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to automate and optimize daily fleet operations, improving real-time visibility and decision-making. The software suite includes tools for route planning, dispatch, workflow, telematics, fleet management, and electronic logging devices (ELD), which serve over 300 leading transportation fleets, some with 1,000+ vehicles. With their powerful and intuitive cloud-based fleet management platform and mobile app, trucking fleets can improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, and increase profitability.
The backend stack still uses microservices with Node.js and TypeScript, and the team works with MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, and AWS. The frontends are built with React.
There are 4-5 months with the possibility of extension.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial experience in software development.
- 5+ years of experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js.
- Experience developing back-end applications.
- Strong coding skills in systems/application programming language.
- Knowledge of relational SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of AWS and cloud computing.
- Strong understanding of system design and experience with microservice architectures.
- At least upper-intermediate level of English.
- Familiarity with logistics, transportation management, telematics, and/or geospatial technology.
- Experience navigating difficult technical decisions and architectural changes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Resourceful team player that thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field.
Nice to have
- Some experience with NestJS, Express.js, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Python.
Responsibilities
- Lead and drive the technical direction of large portions of the backend systems, including system design, architecture, implementation, and technical debt management.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to design, develop, document, and deploy robust, enterprise grade products and software.
- Spread your knowledge by mentoring fellow engineers, assisting in design and code reviews, and advocating for best practices.
- Take ownership and participate in all steps of the development process, from design to release and support.
