Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Kubernetes Platform Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in the USA. Our client is an American multinational company that operates, franchises, and licenses lodging, including hotel, residential, and timeshare properties. Also, it’s the largest hotel chain in the world regarding the number of available rooms. The company is based in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, and encompasses a portfolio of nearly 8,300 properties under 30 leading brands spanning 138 countries and territories.

You will support the delivery and operations to deploy and scale the Kubernetes platform. This person will join a team of engineers building this enterprise platform. This role will code solutions for an enterprise Kubernetes as a self-service platform. Supported by a team of engineers, the candidate should have experience engineering large-scale platform-as-a-service products and be skilled in solving problems through coding.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification.
  • 4+ years of technology experience with a blend of deep technical knowledge and a customer-focused mindset.
  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering role as a strategic thinker that relates technology solutions to customer use cases.
  • 2+ years of experience with public cloud technology stacks such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and Alibaba.
  • Knowledge of containers, including Kubernetes solution design, deployment, management, and orchestration across a multi-cloud environment.
  • Prior experience driving highly technical architecture and driving outcomes with automation through Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Helm, and GitOps.
  • Understanding design end-to-end architecture that supports 99.99% service availability with performance and cost considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, automate, maintain, and manage cloud infrastructure to ensure production system security, performance, and availability.
  • Support cloud and automation operational metrics.
  • Provide code solutions to continuously improve products and solutions to be scalable and highly available.
  • Automate everything, from right-sizing (VM, disks, storage tiers) to self-service and real-time spend visibility.
  • Review issues logs and metrics and help implement solutions.
  • Maintain in-depth documentation of activities and system configuration.
  • Perform troubleshooting, resolution, and problem analysis.
  • Assist in industry knowledge and enhance subject matter expertise, identify trends and changes in technology and automation strategies.
  • Provide peer reviews/feedback frequently and foster a modern engineering culture.

Nice to have

  • Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), AWS Professional Architect, AWS Security Specialty, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
  • Experience working with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Expertise in peer code review.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of securing technologies such as, but not limited to, cloud-native services (e.g., VPCs, S3 buckets), container platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), APIs, identity and access management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
  • Ability to manage the details and compliance with standards and expectations.
  • Background in technical infrastructure operations, administration, or engineering.
