Social Responsibility Report 2021
At Svitla, we are dedicated to making a positive difference in the communities where we do business and live. We are proud to have supported numerous charity activities in 2021, including a health drive in partnership with local Ukrainian clinics, educational scholarships for underprivileged students, and many others. Through our contributions, we aim not only to assist but also to inspire, as we believe in the power of collective effort and compassion.
Since its founding in 2003 with the establishment of Svitla in the US and the opening of its first development center in Kyiv, the company has expanded globally, with offices across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia. Throughout our growth, our steadfast commitment to charitable programs has been a pillar, continually improving the world and the communities where we operate.
We are pleased to present Svitla Systems' Corporate Social Responsibility summary for 2021, showcasing our continued commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace environment, and our dedication to making a positive global impact.
NODUS, CENTER OF NEUROREHABILITATION
Svitla Systems continues to double down on its support for the Neurological and Neurosurgical Rehabilitation Research Centre, or NODUS for short, which is the only clinic in Ukraine that provides end-to-end care for Ukrainian servicemen, soldiers, and volunteers with central and peripheral nervous system impairment.
In 2021, Svitla contributed to the purchase of the G-EO System Evolution gait rehabilitation device for the NODUS clinic. The G-EO System provides the world’s most advanced robot-assisted gait rehabilitation with advanced features to realistically simulate actions like climbing stairs.
Within the framework of the Nodus Charity project, servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in specialized rehabilitation can restore natural walking after being severely injured, all free of charge.
NATIONAL MILITARY MEDICAL CENTER
The National Military Medical Center is an institution that houses professional, selfless, noble, and duty-bound medical workers whose mission is to tend to Ukraine’s national military.
Ukraine’s soldiers at war, also referred to as part of the Anti Terrorist Operation (ATO), are relentlessly defending our homeland, and the National Military Medical Center helps those injured make a full and speedy recovery with proper care and health services.
Svitla Systems cares deeply about this cause, and as such, continues to actively support the National Military Medical Center by helping cover the cost of the Interactive Board for Field Doctors who work specifically with ATO patients.
UKRAINIAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY
Svitla Systems has been working in close collaboration with the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) since 2016 to help children in need get full support for their education.
To deepen our collaboration, in September 2021, we donated $36,300 to fund eleven academic scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year. These scholarships were specially given to students who either lost a parent during the Revolution of Dignity or whose parents are currently defending Ukraine against Russian hostility in the Donbas war.
A true advocate for education and children, Nataliya Anon, Svitla Systems’ CEO, and Founder, is actively involved with the Ukrainian Catholic University, as she has been for years, and she directly donated the scholarships in support of UCU students.
HEBRON IT ACADEMY
Hebron IT Academy is a non-governmental organization that actively helps orphans and young people in Ukraine get access to opportunities so they become independent and contributing members of society by giving them the opportunity to gain practical knowledge in the IT field.
Hebron IT Academy has been helping orphans and young people from troubled homes in Ukraine for nearly 6 years now, paving the way for them to successfully integrate into society through intellectual growth, tools, personal development, and life skills, to help them build a career in IT.
Through a free, 2-year training program, orphans and young people receive housing, food, and scholarships to find internships and employment in IT companies. As an enthusiast supporter, Svitla Systems helps cover the fees of some technical equipment, student support, etc.
CHARITY SCHOOL "SMART FUTURE"
Svitla Systems is a proud sponsor of the “Smart Future” initiative, which is a charitable academic institution that offers children of socially disadvantaged groups free access to modern educational resources and knowledge.
We first partnered with the “Smart Future” initiative in 2016, and ever since, we’ve happily acted as patrons of several programs within this initiative.
In September 2021, we helped finance front-end courses for the 10-12 age group within the framework of our large-scale Start IT project. This effort spans 9 months of support, training orphans, children of large families (+5), children with disabilities, children of parents who participate in the Anti Terrorist Operation, children of migrants, and other underprivileged children, in specific areas of front-end development with cutting-edge, modern courses.
HEALTHCARE PROGRAM
The long-established Healthcare program was forged out of the intent to help our colleagues lead a healthy and active lifestyle. We continuously encourage our colleagues’ efforts to participate in sporting events that help boost their health. To that end, we regularly cover our colleagues’ participation in running events.
Amidst a global pandemic, Svitla Systems amplified its efforts to find ways to help our colleagues achieve an overall state of wellbeing, both mental and physical.
After the globally-imposed measures to enforce social distancing, we began to engage in Online Running marathons where more than 50 Svitla employees participated across different events throughout 2021, ranging from 4 to 42 kilometers!
