Report 2024
Nataliya Anon,
Founder and CEO of Svitla Systems
We build a business that is not only profitable but contributes to the well-being of other communities and makes a lasting difference in the world.
At Svitla Systems, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities where we work and live. In 2024, we continued to actively support various charitable initiatives, extending our reach and deepening our involvement in meaningful ways. As a global company operating in multiple regions, we take pride in being a part of and contributing to the social fabric of each locality.
This commitment was reflected in our diverse array of projects and activities aimed at enriching lives and fostering a brighter tomorrow. Whether through sponsoring educational programs, supporting health and wellness initiatives among employees, or engaging in volunteer movements, Svitla Systems not only invested financially but also encouraged active participation from our team members.
This year's Social Corporate Responsibility (SCR) report outlines our contributions and highlights the tangible impacts of our initiatives. We invite you to explore the stories of collaboration, innovation, and community enhancement that define our approach to corporate responsibility.
EDUCATION
Stanford Ignite Ukraine Program
Svitla Systems was proud to support the Stanford Ignite Ukraine program, initiated by our CEO, Nataliya Anon. This program aimed to revitalize Ukraine’s economy by empowering its entrepreneurs. In partnership with the Ukrainian Catholic University and Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), 42 of Ukraine’s brightest business minds participated in a three-week course at Stanford focused on innovation and leadership. Nataliya Anon underscored the importance of fostering entrepreneurial talent for Ukraine's economic recovery. This initiative highlighted the resilience of Ukrainian entrepreneurs and the value of educational partnerships in driving societal progress.
School #7 in Boryslav
Since 2018, Svitla Systems had actively supported School #7 in Boryslav, Ukraine, as part of our ongoing commitment to educational initiatives. This reflected the deep connection of our CEO, Nataliya Anon, who grew up in Ukraine and had a personal mission to give back to her roots. Our contributions began with the restoration of the school’s building and grounds, followed by the renovation of the computer lab. In our most recent initiative, we provided 13 system units and 7 large monitors, significantly enhancing the school’s technical resources. As a result, School #7 now boasted the most advanced computer lab among the 12 local schools, meeting the growing demand for modern technology in education.
IT School “Smart Future”
Since 2016, Svitla Systems had supported the Smart Future charity IT school, which provided technical education to disadvantaged children, including orphans, disabled children, those from large families, and children of ATO soldiers who were killed or injured. This summer, Svitla donated $2,000 to help 80 children from these backgrounds enroll in three 4-5 month courses in Programming and Design. This contribution equipped them with vital skills and opened up opportunities in the tech industry, helping to shape their futures despite their difficult circumstances.
University Rover Challenge (URC2024)
At Svitla, our commitment to innovation and exploration was foundational to fostering progress and shaping a brighter future. In 2024, we were thrilled to sponsor the University Rover Challenge (URC2024), an esteemed competition organized by The Mars Society. This endeavor challenged and motivated the upcoming generation of scientists, engineers, and visionaries by pushing the technological envelope and promoting collaborative innovation. We deeply valued our role in supporting an initiative that not only advanced exploration but also had a profound and positive impact globally.
The competition was fierce during the System Acceptance Review, culminating in an intense finale where 38 teams from 10 different countries competed. This event took place from May 29 to June 1, 2024, at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in Utah, offering participants a unique opportunity to test their rovers in conditions simulating the Martian environment.
Initially, 102 teams took part, submitting detailed reports and video demonstrations of their rovers. The best 38 teams advanced to the finals, where they demonstrated their cutting-edge innovations in one of the Earth's most Mars-like landscapes.
Community Support
Indigenous Community Support
One of Svitla’s initiatives was focused on supporting Indigenous communities in northern Argentina. In collaboration with Pueblos Originarios, a dedicated organization providing humanitarian aid, we worked to bring internet access to the Wichi community in the Chaco impenetrable region. Recognizing the lack of internet access as a significant barrier, we donated six NUC-style computers. These computers and monitors were installed in a rural school. This effort aimed to provide the community with a crucial connection to the world, opening doors to education, communication, and opportunities.
ENGin Volunteer Platform Enhancements
Over the past six months, Svitla Systems has played a crucial role in transforming the ENGin platform, app.enginprogram.org, to enhance the user experience for both volunteers and students. Responding to participant feedback, we introduced numerous improvements, including new features, front- and back-end updates, and technical refinements. Despite limited resources, Svitla Systems' expertise and dedication ensured the successful delivery of these impactful changes, making the platform more user-friendly and efficient for all members of the ENGin community.
International Children’s Day
On International Children's Day, Svitla Ukraine partnered with the Kids Fund to make a meaningful impact on the lives of 30 children whose parents were actively defending Ukraine. This initiative aimed to bring joy and support to these children, acknowledging the challenges they faced while their families served the nation.
In less than three weeks, Svitla teammates united to raise over $2,900, showcasing their dedication and compassion. The funds were used to fulfill the children’s personal wishes, providing them with toys, art supplies, books, sports equipment, and other items to bring moments of happiness and foster their creativity and development.
Support Ukraine
Svitla Volunteers’ Support
Svitla Systems remained steadfast in supporting Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Russia. During 2024 we kept our focus on the internal Svitla Volunteer Community, which had been relentlessly providing crucial resources to various military units and brigades. These resources included winter apparel, medical supplies, ammunition, thermal imagers, drones, and vehicles.
We believe that unity was our most powerful weapon in combating aggression. Together, we worked towards bringing peace and victory to Ukraine.
Ukrainian Defenders Day
As the conflict in Ukraine continued, it underscored the need for steadfast commitment to democracy, freedom, and global security. At Svitla Systems, we were profoundly inspired by the courage and determination of those defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and striving for peace.
Svitla was dedicated to supporting our colleagues who had joined the armed forces, preserving their positions and covering over 50% of their compensation.
In a gesture of appreciation, we assembled special gift boxes filled with essential items such as power banks, thermal mugs, flashlights, personal care products, snacks, and more. We honored the bravery and selflessness of our teammates and looked forward to welcoming them back.
Moreover, we bolstered our internal volunteers' fundraising initiatives by organizing a week-long charity raffle featuring exclusive company merchandise. This event showcased a variety of branded products, creating daily excitement among our teammates. Each day, we held a raffle for a different item (hammock, computer table, hoodie, t-shirt, and raincoat), allowing team members to donate and enter the draw. At the end of each day, a winner was randomly selected from that day's participants.
This engaging approach not only fostered team spirit but also significantly boosted our fundraising efforts. Our team successfully raised almost $1300 through these daily raffles, and Svitla Systems contributed an additional $3,000 to the cause. The total funds were distributed evenly among the volunteers, further supporting their commendable efforts in these challenging times.
Svitla Smart Talks Webinars
Svitla Smart Talks was a series of complimentary webinars dedicated to exploring different programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Designed to offer practical, relevant insights, these sessions aimed to enhance professional skills and facilitate connections among leading developers.
Additionally, Svitla Smart Talks supported humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Each event provided participants with an opportunity to contribute to various volunteer initiatives. Throughout 2024, we raised approximately $3,000, which was distributed across multiple fundraising efforts.
HEALTHCARE
Svitla Running Team
At Svitla Systems, a shared passion for a healthy lifestyle and running united our global team. Since our founding, we had consistently supported our employees' running initiatives and encouraged participation in marathons, whether for social causes or simply for the joy of staying active together. This year, we continued the tradition with the Svitla Running Team, giving our colleagues the chance to participate throughout the summer and fall. Team members received race reimbursements and branded
Svitla sports shirts. Our signature bright orange shirts made appearances in countries like Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Germany, Ukraine, and the USA, with thousands of kilometers covered by our runners. We extended our gratitude to our athletic colleagues for their dedication and for inspiring us all.
Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital
Svitla Systems donated about $3000 to Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital after a missile strike on July 8, 2024, caused significant damage. As the largest children's medical facility in Ukraine, Okhmatdyt’s critical departments, including the surgical and oncology units, were severely impacted, affecting their ability to provide life-saving care.
Svitla’s donation aimed to support the hospital's recovery efforts and help restore essential services to thousands of children. This contribution was part of Svitla’s ongoing commitment to aid Ukraine during the crisis, focusing on supporting vulnerable populations, especially children in need of urgent medical care.
