Social Responsibility Report 2018
At Svitla, we believe that giving back is not just an obligation but a privilege. We are dedicated to continuing our efforts to support and uplift communities in need. Through our CSR initiatives, we strive to make a meaningful and lasting impact, reinforcing our core values and commitment to being a force for good.
Below, you can read Svitla’s CSR Report 2018, which details how we initiated a scholarship program and collaborated with the Catholic University, how we support troops in Eastern Ukraine, and how we engaged the young diaspora in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
SCHOLARSHIP FOR UCU STUDENTS
To be successful in today’s competitive market, companies need highly educated workers. With this reality in mind, Svitla Systems’ CEO, Nataliya Anon, has turned to Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) - a unique open academic community living the Eastern Christian tradition and forming leaders to serve with professional excellence in Ukraine and internationally - to grant a scholarship.
Svitla initiated a scholarship program in September 2018, granting an academic scholarship to one UCU student each year. A special committee chooses the student, basing their decision on his or her examination marks, community activities and financial need.
THEATER TO THE EAST
Svitla Systems is an active contributor and supporter of Ukrainian troops in Eastern Ukraine. Our company also assists families and children who live close to the frontline.
In cooperation with an initiative called “Radiemo razom” (Happy together), Svitla contributes resources and volunteering time to help families who have lost their loved ones in the war or who have been misplaced or negatively affected by the war.
The project involves a series of various activities in local schools, churches and clubs, where volunteers organize art classes, theaters, and poetry evenings. They also bring clothes, food, and medical supplies to the local communities, as well as assist them with cleaning and construction projects.
Sharing our love and support with these families is our greatest mission. We believe that in this combined effort we will be able to bring more light and happiness into the lives of many families who have been negatively impacted by the war.
UKRAINIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL
Svitla Systems is a US company with Ukrainian roots. That is why we actively support several social projects that assist local Ukrainian community in San Francisco and the Bay Area. One of them is ‘Ridna Shkola’, a unique Sunday Ukrainian school for children and youth, mostly engaging Ukrainian diaspora and welcoming other communities.
Svitla Systems’ CEO, Natalia Anon, is one of several school co-founders who put their efforts into ‘Ridna Shkola’, where kids can advance their knowledge of the Ukrainian language, culture, and traditions. Nataliya volunteers to teach Ukrainian language and literature classes. She designs the school curriculum to introduce children to the most prominent Ukrainian authors. Between lessons, students have lunch and breaks, enjoy various physical exercises and a very popular cooking class, where they prepare and taste traditional Ukrainian meals.
Celebrating holidays like Easter, Christmas, St. Nikolas Day, Independence Day, Holodomor Commemoration, Taras Shevchenko Days also brings new and exciting experience in discovering Ukrainian culture and traditions. Additionally, kids take part in various charitable projects, such as sending toys and clothing to orphans in Ukraine.
