Traditionally, Svitla Systems devoted the last spring weekend (May 30 & 31 2015) to Ruby language. This year Svitla Ruby Conference (aka “RubyC”) has once again proved to be one of the largest Ukrainian Ruby-events.
Over 260 Ruby-developers gathered in Kiev to learn and discuss new trends in Ruby and Ruby on Rails, as well as related technologies of web development. RubyC managed to bring together a diverse pool of participants and speakers from the US, UK, Germany, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
For two days the most accomplished developers were outlining their best practices and latest projects. A wonderful thing about RubyC-2015 was the friendly and open surrounding which encouraged discussions and debates; this allowed all talks to be followed by a great deal of questions and opinion exchanges.
RubyC-2015 had a really great team of speakers, including two Ruby-Heroes of 2014: Ara T. Howard (US) and Erik Michaels-Ober (Germany). While most of presenters were new ones, Ben Lovell (UK) and Bogdan Gusiev (UA) returned for the second time. A special thanks to Vladislav Gorbenko who was presenting on behalf of the organizer.
As well as being an outstanding event for sharing knowledge RubyC-2015 is also an open platform for the entire Ukrainian community. Such companies as Soft Serve, Global Logic and DataArt took part as sponsors, and many other joined in as partners, helping to maintain an atmosphere of the informal Ruby reunion. Especially after the second day, when all participants were invited to an after-party to relax, bowl and continue their chat over a glass of beer.
