Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with Python and React for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe. Our client is an American health insurance company headquartered in New York City. The company focuses on the health insurance industry through telemedicine, healthcare-focused technological interfaces, and transparent claims pricing systems, making it easier for patients to navigate their healthcare options. Also, the company provides virtual care, doctor support, appointment scheduling, and other related services. It is the first health insurance company built around a full-stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving members. It employs technology, design, and data to humanize health care. The company offers plans to individuals, couples, and families residing in select areas of New York, New Jersey, California, and Texas who don’t receive health insurance from an employer.
General on-call rotation is a week-long process that occurs every 5-6 weeks for each team member. Most pages arise during working hours; however, there may be a few off-hours pages that can be worked on the next working day, with one page from each off-hours rotation requiring attention, typically via Slack messages. It’s estimated that, on average, every few on-call rotations, there will be something that needs attention in front of a laptop.
An overlap till 7 PM CET is required.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial experience in web development.
- 5+ years of experience in a production environment as a Full Stack Engineer.
- Expert knowledge of Python and related frameworks like Flask, FAST API.
- 3+years of experience with React.
- Extensive experience in search tech, including strong knowledge of Elasticsearch, query tuning, and search analytics.
- Strong understanding of ranking algorithms, with hands-on implementation of custom scoring, boosting, and learning-to-rank approaches.
- Familiarity with linguistic search techniques (e.g., stemming, lemmatization, synonym handling) to improve query understanding and result relevance.
- Deep domain knowledge of provider data, including healthcare provider directories and matching/search applications.
- The ability to hit the ground running in a command line and scripting environment.
- Understanding of relational databases like PostgreSQL.
- Experience working with test-driven development and unit test frameworks, strong testing and debugging skills.
- Both an independent individual contributor and a team player.
- Good communication skills in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kafka and RPC frameworks like gRPC.
Responsibilities
- Become an expert on your team’s technical stack(s), and gain knowledge on the business domains.
- Plan, implement, and deploy changes in accordance with the client’s established software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best coding, testing, and monitoring practices.
- Participation in on-call rotation (possibly in the future).
- Produce technical design, test, and launch planning documentation for complex projects and/or projects with complex dependencies.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and fix production issues as they arise.
- Participate in teams’ Scrum meetings, collaborate with engineers, and contribute to design and code reviews.
