Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Tech Lead for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Costa Rica.
Our client, the AE industry’s only fully cloud-based PIM solution, handles the increasingly complex space of digital communications, documents, and workflows for architectural and engineering firms. The simple, intuitive user interface makes everyday tasks, such as email filing and archiving, file sharing, and CA workflows, automated and effortless. They integrate with industry-standard software, including Office 365, Procore, Deltek, Ajera, Unanet, and Microsoft Teams. The company’s software utilizes tools and automation to streamline tedious tasks, such as filing emails, preparing transmittals, and managing logs, thereby enabling architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals to maintain high-quality records and ensure client satisfaction.
The team has always been fully remote, using MS Teams as the chat and virtual meeting platform. Each engineer uses their preferred IDE. Any tools that help you work faster and more effectively are encouraged. Tickets and the Kanban board are used to organize the work in Jira. The team employs a CI/CD approach, releasing changes in small increments as they are ready, holds a short daily stand-up, and then engineers work together as necessary. The current back end is primarily Java Spring, and the front end is Vue.js (without WebSockets). The engineers are transitioning to a more (but not exclusive) API-first serverless approach with a reactive front end, undertaking this cautiously, as they believe that serverless is ideal for many things, but not everything.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of commercial experience in software development.
- 3+ years of experience in tech leading or similar roles (principal, staff roles).
- 5+ years of experience with Java.
- Solid knowledge with AWS serverless stack, including CDK, API-first development, testing, and monitoring
- Knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Education in Computer Science or a related field.
- Fluent English.
Responsibilities:
- Review the engineering team’s code, including enforcing coding standards and best practices, ensuring that the engineer has thoroughly tested the code, and then pushing it to production.
- Participate in team meetings regarding architectural decisions, work closely with each engineer to mentor them, and ensure they are making progress and coordinating properly with the rest of the team.
- Coordinate engineering tasks with Product Management and lead the engineering team’s daily stand-up.
- Participate in regular discussions with the CTO, VP of Engineering, CloudOps Manager, and Product Manager to coordinate the engineering team’s work and refine processes for CI/CD, testing, security, and other areas.
