SENIOR NETWORK OPERATIONS ENGINEER

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Network Operations Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in India. Our client is a cloud platform for business spend management (BSM) that helps organizations manage their spending, procurement, invoicing, expenses, and supplier relationships. They provide a unified, cloud-based spend management platform that connects hundreds of organizations representing the Americas, EMEA, and APAC with millions of suppliers globally. The platform provides greater visibility into and control over how companies spend money. Small, medium, and large customers have used the platform to bring billions of dollars in cumulative spending under management. The company offers a comprehensive platform that helps organizations manage their spending, procurement, invoicing, expenses, and supplier relationships. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in San Mateo, California, they aim to streamline and optimize business processes, driving efficiency and cost savings. The project: there are multiple container platforms: AWS ECS, homegrown Kubernetes, and managed Kubernetes using AKS and EKS. This project is designed to move existing workloads from ECS and homegrown Kubernetes to the customized flavor of managed Kubernetes known as the Container Platform (CCP). To complete this project, they are forming a dedicated DevOps Engineers, Developers, and Quality Engineers team.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of professional experience, including experience with an enterprise SaaS organization. 
  • Knowledge of Firewall, IDS/IPS, DNS, BGP, OSPF, AWS, and Azure network constructs. 
  • Experience deploying physical network and security devices and cloud networking solutions like web application firewalls. 
  • Proficiency in coding with Python, Java, Ruby, or equivalent languages.
  • Familiarity with deploying cloud network infrastructure using Terraform and CloudFormation, or experience with Chef & Ansible. 
  • A degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
  • Confidence in project ownership and issue resolution. 
  • A passion for excellence, natural problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities.
  • A solid understanding of networking systems and protocols, particularly in a public cloud environment. 
  • Thrives in a collaborative and supportive work environment

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and support network solutions in a large-scale public cloud environment (AWS and Azure). 
  • Utilize advanced application and network security tooling, including next-generation firewalls and IDS/IPS. 
  • Implement enterprise-level Palo Alto Network Firewall, Fortinet, CheckPoint, AWS, and Azure Firewalls. 
  • Demonstrate expertise in networks and protocols, such as TLS, DNS, BGP, OSPF, TCP/UDP, and SMTP. 
  • Develop roadmaps using established public cloud design standards. 
  • Provide network support and leadership to the engineering organization through design reviews. 
  • Embrace a development mindset, managing network infrastructure as code and taking ownership of service delivery. 
  • Implement and support network performance, capacity, and availability monitoring tools.
  • Contribute to the growth of the global network function, onboarding new network reliability engineers and providing technical leadership. 
  • Stay updated with the latest networking developments through peer networking and industry events.

Will be a plus:

  • Experience with monitoring technologies like Prometheus, Influx, Grafana, Elasticsearch, New Relic, Dynatrace, or Datadog. 
  • Familiarity with container technologies such as Kubernetes, ECS, and EKS.
  • Knowledge of databases like MySQL, MS-SQL, and NoSQL. 
  • Understanding of security and certificate management. 
  • Understanding of relevant operating systems, networking, and cloud certifications.
