SENIOR PLATFORM QA ENGINEER (KUBERNETES)

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Platform QA Engineer (Kubernetes) for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in India. Our client is a cloud platform for business spend management (BSM). The client empowers companies worldwide with the visibility and control they need to spend smarter and safer. They provide a unified, cloud-based spend management platform that connects hundreds of organizations representing the Americas, EMEA, and APAC with millions of suppliers globally. The platform provides greater visibility into and control over how companies spend money. Small, medium, and large customers have used the platform to bring billions of dollars in cumulative spending under management. This project encompasses the migration of the massive EC2 deployments running the customer’s main Rails background processes into the managed Kubernetes environments (CCP). The main application has hundreds of different types of actions, requiring a new fault-tolerant framework, fallback capabilities, and detailed validation before these jobs can run on CCP. The development phase is underway, and the engineers joining the project will require onboarding on these new technologies, contributing remaining features and bug fixes, testing automation, and supporting the automation and execution of the rollout on all the CCP clusters.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in quality function, setting up automation frameworks, and writing scripts.
  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps engineering.
  • MS/BS in Computer Science or equivalent field.
  • Solid knowledge of test architectural principles, concepts, and applications across platforms and cloud-based technologies (AWS).
  • Experience in automation testing in Kubernetes.
  • Expertise in writing clean code and automation testing using scripting languages like Ruby and Python.
  • Knowledge of Git.
  • Understanding configuration management and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Puppet, Salt, Ansible, or equivalent.
  • Experience with CI/CD  using Jenkins or equivalent.
  • Understanding of administration of Linux machines, web servers, application servers, and databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, people, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in developing quick Proof of Concepts and building cloud-based automation solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design, development, and maintenance of tools and processes supporting the customer’s technology platforms.
  • Create, develop, and implement automated solutions for business challenges utilizing web and cloud technologies.
  • Conduct planning and execution of quality validation, automation, and release sign-offs.
  • Implement and execute automation strategies for all types of testing, like integration, functional, failure, and fault tolerance.
  • Design, build, and contribute to automation tools that simulate end-user scenarios for QE validations.
  • Work closely with multiple teams across geographies for continuous improvements, innovate and own initiatives, and ensure those are adopted and rolled out.
  • Continuously maintain, innovate, and improve automation and test processes to meet the challenges of handling large-capacity cloud infrastructure.
  • Conduct code reviews, manage automation code quality, and guide teams for improvements and adherence to best practices.
  • Reliably ship customers’ cloud platform feature (compute, network, and storage) releases across cloud environments supporting hosted apps and services.
